News and Announcements
Due to heat index and threat of incoming storms possibly moving in we have decided to cancel all league games for tonight. Stay inside where it is cool and safe from the storms!
The season is set to kick off next week. I have attached link to our IYSA Field Guidelines with regards to social distancing and COVID-19. We please encourage players, Coaches, Parents and Fans alike to practice these guidelines to ensure the safety of the players and all those attending these games. The bleachers will be closed off and the area between the bleachers and the dugout will be exclusively reserved for teams so they can socially distance while off the field of play. We ask fans to bring lawn chairs, blankets, etc and sit along outfield fence line and practice social distancing themselves. The Concession stand will be open and have consistent staff of only 2-3 people that will be versed in following CDC guidelines. We also ask that everyone practice social distancing when standing in line for the concession stand by remaining 6 ft apart and hope to have some markers to assist you with that. We are hoping for a full summer of ball and with your cooperation with following these guidelines will ensure that we can do so in a safe and respectful manner.
The document IYSA_Softball_Field_Guidelines.pdf was attached to this post.
REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED!!!! WE ARE NOT ACCEPTING INDIVIDUAL REGISTRATIONS OR ANY ADDITIONAL TEAMS INTO OUR LEAGUE. The deadline was May 15th and that was already an extension of previous deadline. Unfortunately we have had to turn players away but necessary to stick to our deadline and if turn one away must turn away the others to be fair. It has been a trying time for both parents and Board members dealing with uncertainty of this virus and what the season will hold for us this summer.
We will be having equipment handout on Wednesday, May 27th at the Downtown City Armory from 6:30 -7:30 pm.
Please use parking lot located to north of City Armory where there is a side door we will be at where you can drive thru and pick up your equipment. We will also give you a Coaches Packet and scorebook at that time. If you are unable to make it that night please make arrangements with another coach or local board member to pick up your equipment for you.
With the concern over sharing equipment we strongly encourage parents to purchase a batting helmet for your daughter. These can be found in various stores like Walmart, Target, Scheels, Dicks Sporting Goods and of course online. We would recommend Rawlings one size fits all as your best option for price and fit. Whatever helmet you choose must have a facemask and these either come with the helmet or can be purchased seperately. The equipment we provide can be shared but would need to be sanitized between use.
The plan at this time is to start practice on June 1st with games starting on June 16th and 17th and running thru end of July. We hope to be able to have season ending league tournament August 3rd – 7th. We will be providing guidelines regarding COVID-19 that will need to be followed by Coaches, Players and Fans in the Coaches Packets as well will share on our website and facebook so watch for those.
Thank You for your patience and wishing good health and positivity during this trying time.
Due to this unprecedented time and threat of COVID-19 amongst large gatherings of people as well as decision made by the City of Madison Park and Rec Board to not allow baseball or softball associations to host tournaments in the month of June we have made decision to cancel our Fathers Day Invitational this year. It was not an easy decision but must keep the safety of the players and coaches as well as the Community of Madison in mind. We look forward to hosting again next summer and hope to see your teams there under better circumstances. Stay well and stay safe!!
